Last weekend was the opening weekend of the Summer Playlist Tour, and it was also my first time seeing Jimmie Allen, Billy Currington, and of course, Rascal Flatts, live.
My night started off at a concert pre-party hosted by one of the local radio stations, where my boyfriend and I watched the radio station do a Q&A with Jimmie Allen, and then got to meet him. Jimmie and my boyfriend even had a conversation about sports (I’m not sure on the specifics, because I don’t do sports). He’s a very nice and genuine guy. I’m excited to hear more from Jimmie.
Jimmie kicked off the concert, and after his set, I definitely want to go see him live again. Billy Currington was next, and he basically sang all of his hits. Personally, I think Billy should’ve been on his own tour this summer, not opening for someone else. I would pay to see Billy on his own amphitheater tour, just saying.
I’ll be honest, I was a little nervous that I wouldn’t have a good time at the Rascal Flatts show because a lot of their songs were sad and slow. But, that wasn’t the case at all. They played all of their hits. One of my favorite things about seeing older, more well known groups/artists is the fact that they play all of their hits and it’s like a giant sing along. I had a lot of fun, and I would see Rascal Flatts again, and I think every country music fan should see them because they are such a staple in country music.
I think something to be noted about this tour is the production. It was very well-organized and I loved the fact that the background video would sometimes look like someone was searching for a song online. Very cool. I also loved the selection of merch, and I had a hard time deciding which t-shirt to buy.
